Our History
The VNA Foundation of Greater North Penn is a “health conversion” foundation, tracing its origins to the North Penn Visiting Nurse Association (NPVNA). For generations, NPVNA had served the Greater North Penn region of Montgomery County, PA through home health visits, a children’s clinic, a dental clinic, and other direct services aimed at improving community health. The NPVNA’s geographic service area consisted of the school district boundaries of the North Penn, Souderton, and Wissahickon School Districts, plus Worcester Township. The sale of NPVNA to Abington Health in 2013 resulted in the formation of the VNA Foundation of Greater North Penn, established to provide philanthropic support to nonprofit organizations delivering health and human service programs in the NPVNA’s geographic area, collectively called the Greater North Penn region. The spirit of the original NPVNA mission, and its long history of creative partnerships in the community, live on in the VNA Foundation’s dedication to promoting Health Access, Basic Health Needs, Collaboration and Capacity-Building.
As the Greater North Penn region continues to grow and change, the VNA Foundation strongly promotes the rights of all our neighbors to have access to high-quality health and human services. We seek to be in true partnership with the nonprofit organizations who serve the people of our community, with a commitment to building relationships based on transparency, dialogue and mutual learning.
