Capacity-Building Grants
Three of the VNA Foundation’s long-term partner organizations experienced unprecedented growth in 2024 when they held Grand Openings for facilities that would enable them to serve the Greater North Penn community on a larger scale than ever before. While the VNA Foundation does not make capital grants, we reached out to these three partner nonprofits to offer to support capacity-types of needs that tend to arise when opening a new or expanded facility (staffing costs, equipment and technology, etc.). As a result of these proactive conversations with our partners, the VNA Foundation made three major, unsolicited capacity-building grants totaling $100,000 to support the following initiatives:
Mitzvah Circle Foundation
$50,000 in capacity support for its Forever Home in Montgomeryville, PA, to be used toward:
- $20,000 – supplemental administrative staffing for first year;
- $15,000 – IT support and equipment including setup of computer systems, purchase or upgrade of equipment and website
- $15,000 – Signage for outside the building
Manna on Main Street
$25,000 in capacity support for its Online Market Hub in Lansdale, PA, to be used toward:
- $16,500 – Zero-turn electric Joey lift for food donation and storage at the Hub
- $6,000 – Smart Choice subscription expansion and tablets for the Hub
- $2,500 – Seed funding toward the new Online Distribution manager position
North Penn Valley Boys & Girls Club
$25,000 in capacity support for its new Wissahickon Valley Club in Ambler, PA, to be used toward:
- $25,000 – Toward Floor Staffing to serve the exponentially larger number of children to be served in the new Club building.
